An observer of textures and subtle nuances in everyday life, Goldie Schmiedeler (B.1999 Lawrence, Kansas) finds inspiration in the fabric of human existence, often drawing from the attire and adornments of the individuals he encounters. His artistic vision is enriched by his experiences in different cities. With Chicago serving as a base and Paris offering a creative sanctuary, the amalgamation of these diverse cultural influences characterizes his sculptures. His recent body of work is centered around the enigmatic cowboy boot sculptures, which serve as a canvas for dissecting themes of masculinity and identity but also act as a conduit for experimentation with various materials. Having graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2022, Schmiedeler's work garnered international acclaim with a solo exhibition at Galerie Gardette in Paris, France, in 2023.
